Hi Guys,
I'm hope this is a suitable forum to ask my question given we are dealing with ATV hardware.
I've managed to get Ubuntu 9.10 on to the ATV following a hybrid version of the various guides available.

The main issue I have hit is surprisingly sound! (I was expecting video/crystalhd etc).
I've not been able to get audio over hdmi, and the audio I got with SPDIF only works with stereo input. Such that, if I state within xbmc that my amp supports dolby digital, movies with AC3 soundtracks will have no sound. If I state the amp does not support dolby digital, I do get sound (albeit stereo).
I did a little research on the net, and I had heard of people running in to issues due to pulseaudio. This does NOT seem to be the case with my installation, as pulseaudio is not even installed.
Thinking the stereo (but no AC3) issue could be due to the version of ALSA :-
cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.20.
I decided to upgrade using the information from the following post :-
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p...ost6589810
Unfortunately after the upgrade, I got NO sound at all (no stereo/no ac3).
With regards to audio over HDMI, there are various topics on this forum and others with no real resolution. I believe the Nvidia driver may disable the audio component over HDMI.
The wiki post here talks about loading the 190 nvidia driver using envyng, but I never was able to see this, the max i could get was the 185 driver.

I'm not sure if the 190 driver fixed audio over hdmi?
Anyway, I guess I'm wondering if anyone has gotten AC3/dolbydigital audio working with ubuntu 9.10 on their ATV (be it via spdif/or hdmi)?
If so, could you please let me know how!
cheers!
