There is an option already in XBMC under Settings -> System -> Input Devices -> Allow start of XBMC using the remote

Try deleting the guisettings.xml file in your userdata folder.

I speak about Mac OS X and not Windows. Or do you mean the "/Users/(name)/Library/Application Support/XBMC"-Folder ??

Yea, that's correct. Look inside that folder --> userdata --> guisettings.xml.
