[Linux] Terrible audio in XBMC
#1
Hi

I'm on Mythbuntu 9.10 i386 - XBMC 9.11

I don't know why but i get audio buzzing noises when in XBMC - I've tested on VLC and Mythtv and they sound fine on the same box - what's the problem with XBMC??

see attached my audio settings, i'm going to play in BIOS a little but i don't think that'll make any difference - what's wrong with my XBMC settings? (or what's wrong wit XBMC?)

How do you have audio connected? Whats it connected to? With my audio setup i had to select custom audio, i set one to plughw:0,3 which worked fine at the time (iirc) but when i rebooted the sound was terrible, i changed it to plughw:0,7 and it worked fine. This probably doesnt apply to you though as your screenshot says you are connecting through analog, so i take it you aren't using HDMI?

*edit*
Your pastebin has a lot of CDVDPlayerAudio:: Discontinuty - was:44219998.477653, should be:44008534.298404, error:-211464.179249, don't know if thats relevant though

It sounds terrible, everything buzzes or crackles. It doesn't affect programs outside of XBMC. Confused

In the standard output jack in the back of the computer - goes into BOSE speakers.
One of my video cards has HDMI audio on it but i'm not using that one, it's just the inbuilt one i've posted before.

beatbreaker, we need more info about your hardware and setup, else you can bump till kingdom comes...

also, see if your audio problem is gone when booting xbmc from the live CD. is the normal mythbuntu audio okay?
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs

I don't know what else to give you, but i've put lspci below and lshw too - at the moment i'm not using that ATI card. I'll try the live CD out - the MythTV sound is perfectly fine.
