Movie Stacking & Sets
#1
Hi Guys,

Can someone please give me a hand with applying the correct advancedsettings.xml configuration for my movie stacking. I searched on the wiki and I found this: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...tacking.3E, but I can't seem to get it to work with the specific naming conventions I use:

Quote:-movieA
-----------movieA_1.avi
-----------movieA_2.avi

-movieB
-----------movieB_1.avi
-----------movieB_2.avi
-----------movieB_3.avi

are you trying to make a movie Set, or just stack those two together so they play seamlessly as one movie? There is a difference.

If you want them to play seamlessly as parts, that option is in the XBMC interface. Movie Sets are different and get edited in the NFO files for the movies when you scan / scrape.

When I go in my Movie library it picks up the same movie 2 or 3 times because there are movie_1.avi and movie_2.avi in that movie folder. I want to use the movie stacking or something so that it only reads it as 1 movie. Yes I realise now that sets are different and controlled via the NFO.

I believe if you pick "only one movie per folder" that should do it.

Try using the following instead

-movieA
-----------movieA-CD1.avi
-----------movieA-CD2.avi

Yes I know the default stacking is using the above, but it would mean I would have to rename my whole movie collection and I have quite a few files that have been split. According to this document: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title...viestacking.3E it should be possible by using the right expression to pick it up? I am looking for help in creating the right expression to be able to add it to my advancedsettings.xml file so that it can pick my movies_1.avi and movies_2.avi as a single movie(movie stacking).

What OS are you using because if its windows and all your movies are named already as in post one you can change every file in one go actually two in your case

All you need is this

http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA014830/.../FlexRena/

In your case you would use "replace string" for example look for _1 replace with -CD1, check the screen shot I've set it up exactly as in the example all your _1 files will appear in the right window with current name and new name

Fair enough if you don't want to do that but I thought I'd mention it as its easy to do at least under windows

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of doing a bulk rename but I was hoping I didn't have to. RegEx is a little confusing for me so I will probably rename my movies according to the proper naming scheme supported by XBMC Smile I will let you know how it goes...THANKS!

I don't think single number option is the best route for split movies even in separate folders I guess its easy to add if your familiar with regex, its left out by default for people who have all their movies in a single directory as it causes problems with sequels jaws 1, jaws 2 etc

In any case its a piece of cake to rename with Flexible Renamer you cant really go wrong as you get a preview plus you can also undo any changes
