Got that one myself, and yes, it works out of the box with live Smile

Can recommend that one, fast and very good quality considering the price.

In lirc, did you set it to Microsoft Remote or MCEUSB? I need to buy a new remote for a second installation but i have had bad experiences with ones that emulate keyboard button presses, i want a TRUE MCEUSB device. Is this a true MCEUSB remote? what is it listed as in lsusb when it is connected?

Also is this the same remote?: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HP-MCE-REMOTE-CONT...19bc794d3a

Cheers!

I have one of these eBay cheapie "HP" mce remotes too. Mine reports as
Code:
045e:006d Microsoft Corp. eHome Remote Control Keyboard keys
and is a 1st generation mceusb lirc device, which sends remote pulses and not key presses.

You can never really tell what you're going to get when you order a knockoff product shipped from Hong Kong on eBay. Obviously these are not officially licensed products so you get what you get. If it is the HP-style device pictured then you have a pretty high chance of it being an actual mceusb remote and not a HID device.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Thanks CapnBry!

The sad thing is i don't even want/need the remote, i just need a receiver, mce is just the simplest i have found to emulate on my remote. I will give it a go as i don't fancy spending £50 on a receiver :-).

there's also a load of receiver-only offers on ebay, directly from your most loved HK sources Wink

and yes, also the harmony remotes work 100% with these HP receivers in Windows MCE PC mode (which by default speaks philips RC6 protocol, most cheapie HK receivers can't do nothing with these signals)

XBMC really does need an official remote. :/

I wish I had a solution for that. Sad

I'm surprised that someone like Zotac hasn't put something together. :\
