Problems playing certain .m2ts files
#1
Hi all,

I'm currently filling up my NAS box with my Blu-Rays.
So I ripped them, and they are now in .m2ts Format (AVCHD) on the NAS.
But some of them are not playing at all, it just keeps loading, and nothing happens.

Here is a short xbmc.log trying to open a .m2ts file which is not loading:

PHP Code:

The last 2 entries could be me killing xbmc, as I'm not able to interrupt from the GUI.
Tested it this morning again on the latest SVN (30694).
Files are created with TSMuxer.

Anyone knows where I should look at for infos?

Thanks in advance,
Christian

the correct title of the movie is "Verrueckt nach Mary" by the way... Wink

Ok, looks like I found the error.
And it was not with XBMC, but with NFS.
Copied the same file on the local drive, and it played without any problems.
At one point, it was even playing the same over NFS, but only once.
Now, at the moment, this is coming from a Windows 7 machine, and I was using NFS because it's supposed to be faster then SMB/CIFS.
Anyone know a good solution to share this from a Windows to a Linux box, with the least possible network overhead.
Have to say that this will soon be replaced by a Linux NAS box, which I hope can do NFS better then Windows.

Try UPnP instead, download Twonky or any other UPnP server.

Have you actually tried playing it over SMB, if its a gigabit ethernet link it should be fine.

WMP12 supports .M2TS (AVCHD) not meant for Blu-ray unless you have encoded them to be AVCHD compliant so WMP12 may not see the files and stream them but worth a try anyway.

The problem with UPNP is that they are limited in what they can "stream" to the player.
Hence I wanted to use a "raw" fileshare.
Will try again with CIFS and see if it makes any changes.

Twonky as a UPnP server supports a lot of formats, the only thing which doesn't work (I think) are ISO images.

The WMP12 UPnP server is obviously much more limited and only streams a limited number of formats.

I completely forgot that XBMC has a UPnP server too so installing that on the Windows box would be worth a try, look under settings\network\upnp in XBMC.
