I own a HDHomeRun European edition. It has a dual tuner. Each tuner can either be set to DVB-C or DVB-T. In Germany, there are cable providers who offer their channels unencrypted (=FTA). I watch channels via DVB-C through HDHomeRun.

Ignore this lot ^

UK uses DVB-T2, it's the first country to use it as a standard and there is NO consumer (there is some overpriced professional kit) hardware available for decoding the signal and NONE is forcast for release for at least another 3-4 months.

End of story.

You're stuck with bog standard freeview for now in the UK unless your using a proper store bought STB...
