headless mac mini, disable KB and Mouse ?
#1
hi all

as I have a XMBC setup in the lounge room, using the keyboard and mouse is unnecessary.

A few issues with this setup.

If/when XMBC unexpectedly quits, i need a way to use my apple remote to send mouse clicks.

I also need to disable keyboard and mouse checking when the mac os is restarted.

How is everyone else doing it ?

Any suggestions ?

You can disable the input device checking in "more options" in the bluetooth settings

As for the rest, a vnc client on your phone or whatever is to hand can get you out of trouble. Also there exists various apps for the iphone/ipod touch that lets you use it as a trackpad for the mac, given you'd be able to see the screen itself and not need to see it on the phone.

I suggest using a VNC client like Rachel mentioned... then you dont have to worry about reconnecting etc and you can just use any laptop to VNC in and make your changes.

Also if XBMC unexpectedly quits if you have it set so that it can launch with the remote then you should be able to relaunch it without using anything but the remote.
