Revo Wifi (wlan0 error?)
#1
Using a Revo 3610 with built in WiFI and have installed XBMC directly to the hard drive with a Live USB. Also, my first foray into the world of Linux, so I may get the lingo wrong.

I followed these guides each twice:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...ss&page=44 (michael37's post)

I feel like I have everything setup, but I get the following error when trying to check the wlan0:

SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
wlan0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
wlan0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
Bind socket to interface: No such device

it seems like wlan0 just isn't working.

Tried these commands, as well:
ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev ath0
ifconfig wlan0 up

Also, start networking gives me a "Rejected send message" error.

Can someone point me in a direction? Hope that's enough info.

Thanks!

some atheros cards require a backport package from the standard repos..

btw, did u append a "sudo" with the networking commands [iwconfig, ifconfig etc ] that u use?

What packages do I need?

I did use sudo, both as a prepend to the command and by logging in as su and going to root.
