ATV Backup & Restore
#1
Hello,

I'm trying to follow the ATV Backup and Restore instruction at URL: http://code.google.com/p/atv-bootloader/wiki/ATVBackup

Briefly:
-build an usb disk with patched partd (this should be done on linux)
-add "recovery-0.6.tar.gz" files
-include original EFI file from ATV

Unfortunately I'm stuck on patching partd - therefore no partitions on usb stick Sad

I tried with knoppix (live linux cd) but no patch and other commands.
I tried with vmware MacOS but no patch and other commands.
I tried building up partd on ATV but no luck.

any recommended linux distribution should I have to use ?

Any chance to have the patched binary partd compiled under ATV ?

Thx,
A.

Hello,

I've been able to install atvusb-creator-1.0.b13 on my vmware MacOS server (10.6).

Now from such application I have two choices: ATV-Bootloader and ATV-Patchstick.

If I use ATV-Bootloader selection I can create a usb stick that allow to telnet into ATV-unix device but can't locate any backup.sh/restore.sh/rebuild.sh script.

If I use ATV-Patchstich and try to replace patchstick.sh with backup.sh the ATV seems unable to copy my existing drive information.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thx

Use rebuild.sh: http://atvusb-creator.googlecode.com/svn...rebuild.sh

You will need all of it's dependencies:

OS.dmg
boot.efi
com.apple.boot.plist -- you will need to modify it to get it to work. see atv-bootloader page for an idea on how to structure it.

I am desperately seeking info on this topic as it seems the easiest but has no step by step instructions anywhere, that I can find... and yes. I have googled. Any help is appreciated!
