New Post processing filter
#1
Hello Cool

In the new builds a post processing option has appeared, it's cool but what does it actually do?

When i enable it (watching a 720p MKV X264 movie with 1080p output), the result is honestly very bad, the image loses its sharpness and results in a somewhat blurry dvd-like picture.
By the way, even with 'Enable for SD content' checked, it is activated with 720p MKV.

Is there a need to mess with advanced settings or something like that?

Best regards.

It should never ever be enabled with h264/vc1 they have their own built in postproc filters

I noticed it too today, I enabled it for SD content. I assume the code will filter for h.264 content and only apply postprocessing unless it's h.264 content?

I gotta say it does have a really does have an impact on these old xvid avi encodes. (sd resolution with a bitrate around 1Mbps)

The blocky video that xvid produces is smoothed out pretty well. Smile

In build 33791 I cannot set it to "only SD" anymore.
You can only set it to use for all video files.
Why is this?
