XBMC live crash after fresh install
#1
Hi guys,

New user to Linux and XBMC so please be kind.

I just did a fresh install on a

Athlon II 645 with an asus m4a78lt-m le.
2 gb ram

with

XBMC live 9.11 on the HDD.

However during installs i seem to have a few problems.

a. No network devices detected (my onboard lan is not supported?)

b. It does not even start . I see the XBMC splash screen and after that it's a plain blank. Nothing on my screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

after a bit of searching it seems that the lack of any display is due to the guisettings.xml file.

Can anyone tell me how to find the file please? I don't really know how to get on the command prompt?

Your ATI card is probably not supported by xbmcLive. You need to manually install the correct gpl able driver. Or if possible get a suppored NVIDIA card (or any other supported card)

I realize that you probably wanted to use the live installation to get a painless installation since you dont seem to know linux. In this case I guess the sad truth is that it does not work on you particular HW.
