I'm using the latest XBMC from SVN and I can't seem to figure out how to manually install skins....
~/.xbmc/skin doesn't exist and creating it and putting a skin in there doesn't help either...

The add-ons function works but I want to install my own.

Ideas?

You need to place them in the new addons folder (you can ditch the skins folder) and the folder needs to be named like "skin.aeon".
