Yes its fixed

If a new version is announced it will be in the obvious place

http://xbmc.org/

If you want to follow everything that is happening then look on trac

http://trac.xbmc.org/roadmap

You can always installed a new build into a different directory just make sure you install it in portable mode then you wont disturb your current install you might find its perfectly usable already and decide to change

The latest versions are here

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/

If you do install to a different directory in portable mode make sure the shortcut does actually have the -p switch added before you run it otherwise it will change your database on your current install and there's no going back this doesn't apply if your current install is in portable mode as well
