Hi all,
I had a whole lot of trouble with my htpc ( from old hardware for now ) and getting my sound to work, in the end I figured out my onboard sound was just broke so I disabled it and installed an old Creative Soundcard I found somewhere. Now when I boot in the terminal ( using the 'recovery' option in grub ) and install mp3blaster I can play mp3's! So the sound works and the hardware is fine this time.
When I load up xbmc it doesn't work... I made a Ubuntu Karmic minimal install and used the xci script to install xbmc. I already used the script to reset the sound ( it's an option ) and reinstall the drivers ( the last thing is called X.1 sound or something ).. in the terminal all still works but xbmc just refuses :p.
I hear no menusound and when I load a movie it states "failed to initialise the audio device".
I tried some options in the menu's but nothing seems to work for me.
Here are my logs and some useful? output:
Logs: http://pastebin.com/r8LqNRRb
Output of aplay -l: http://pastebin.com/nQVgV4dt
Output of the hardware listing command ( forgot which one it was ): http://pastebin.com/YUNFcJdq
I tried using alsamixer too but since the sound works in the terminal... that can't be it right?
Greets, hope someone can help.
