For a bit there, I was attempting to use Apple DVD Player as an externalplayer for XBMC, but I can see that road leads to madness. The reason for the external player was that I have a few DVD rips (VIDEO_TS using RipIt or MDRP) that crash XBMC's built-in player.

These are a couple of my kids Baby Einstein DVDs. After the main feature is a short "forced" preview (the kind you can't navigate away from with a regular DVD player). XBMC is crashing in the transition between the end of the feature and this preview.

I'm running 9.11 R26018 on a 1.66g GHz Mac Mini with 10.5.8

I just tested the latest nightly (r32268) of Dharma, and the problem is gone!

As of Dharma, XBMC's built-in DVD player is the best for playing straight ripped DVDs (VIDEO_TS). It's at least the equal of Apple DVD Player, which up to now, was the only player I found that reliably played ALL of my rips. And I tried every player out there.

Kudos to the XBMC OS X developers! Your kung fu is very mighty.
