HTPC build with new ASUS AT5IONT-I
tripkip Wrote:I'm not considering it, I already made up my mind.

I think I'm going to trow out this case together with that PSU,
I regret that I didn't know that 60W would be sufficient before... Confused
Because that's the reason I didn't go for a case with a 60W external adapter.

So there goes 55EUR up in the air..

hmmm. Another thought is the APEX MI-008. From a noise perspective, the reviews are decent: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article905-page1.html

Now I can't decide between this and the m305+picoPSU. Huh

Guys, just asking: why don't you put your memory to the motherboard? If that 2GB chip is not compatible, will it damage the motherboard?

Cause we don't own it yet...? Not gonna spend the $50 if it doesn't work. Olerok earlier in the thread said they would buy it. But Diggyz also said he tried a 2gb kingston and it did not work. In anycase newegg is out of the 1gb that tripkip is using...thus we are screwed atm.

Gee... Never thought that a simple motherboard like this will bring us so much trouble with its memory issues.

That makes me wonder: is it worth it to build an HTPC using this motherboard? Isn't it easier to use "standard motherboard" with core i or core 2 duo plus medium class graphics card? At least it will be easier to get a compatible 4 or more GB of memory.

This board is a serious candidate to give us the Holy Grail of HTPC: small, without any moveable parts, with ability to play 1080p, etc.

I currently own a nearly silent ATX-sized HTPC, and I love the flexibility of having a full-blown PC in the living room. But I also would love a system with this board to use on the bedroom and other places where size matters. Nod

But I agree with you, a PITA these memory issues.

I did.
I'm waiting for Deluxe and if it will be very expensive I choose a Picopsu 80 solution and the none-Deluxe card.
diggyz Wrote:I can confirm that 2gig modules doesnt seems to work very good. Atleast not the kingston 2gig module i tried. Wont boot up at all.
What model was it?
oleroc Wrote:I build my htpc with the sonay case btw. Very nice case.
I've read reports that it's loud. Can you let us know your experience here later.

did anyone else test the KVR1333D3S9 2GB modules?

I will have the kingston memory in my office tomorrow, so I will report back then. I bought 6 x 2GB so they better work!

BTW, I am using the sonay case:
http://www.aceofsweden.com/ace-q/case/sonay.html

It has a built in power supply with a 6 cm fan, and is more or less silent. I can barely hear the fan if I put my ear to the powersupply.
It does have a case fan also, but I am not planning on using it.

Still would love to see some numbers for idle temps from this board when running passive. Anyone able to provide said numbers? thanks Smile

Will the Atom d525 with the AT5IONT-I be ready for Windows 7 64 bit? Why wouldn't I install 64 bit vs. 32 bit?
I figure if I am building a new system, why not use the newest software.
Is there any reason or possibility to use more than 4GB of memory with this MB?
Home Premium or Professional?

thoughts?

Folks,
I´ve just hit the website of a dealer claiming to have 2gb boards guaranteed to run on the AT5IONT-I.

Link: http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=4

Unfortunately not on stock but they post it will be up to 3 days to get them. Good for those in GB since it is a shop over there.

Cleverly they keep the brand and specification as a secret. I would really like to know, which ones they are.

Hi folks,

do you think is so necessary to have 4GB ram instead of 2GB?

I'm waiting for the deluxe version to build my first htpc, and before reading this very interesting thread I absolutely didn't imagine that this mb can have all these problems with the ram...

Thanks to all, ciao

I will install a dual boot solution with Windows Home Server + RipNAS Essentials and Windows 7 Home. I prefer 4GB RAM for both OS.

My plan was to build a 2x2GB at5iont-i deluxe computer but as I found 2x1GB for $26 I changed my mind.
