Upgrading from 9.11 to Dharma - can I just use the existing databases?
#1
I'm upgrading from XBMC 9.11 on one machine to use Dharma (currently r32773) on another.

Can I just copy the existing movies and music databases across, or will I have to rescan all my media into a new database? I guess what I'm asking is: has the database format or location changed so that this wouldn't be possible.

Thanks.

Yes it has changed... you have to make a backup using the option in the library menu, then import the backup again.

You don't have to rescan at all - your databases will be upgraded.

Note that there is no way to go back once you go to Dharma, so if you want the ability to go back to the stable 9.11, make sure you back it up.
