I have several pcs in my home and I have install XBMC for windows on them and they work fine and I have a linux box with XBMC installed on it that all online content is very slow loading even when going to addons and downloading the directories it is slow, for example the are over 70 video plugins under the video addons and that directory takes over a hour to load. I have tried a linux live cd on all the computers and get the same results, but but the windows version works fine. I would be thankful for any suggestion that would help my problem.

I had a similar problem with ubuntu karmic. There was a kernel bug that broke python for some people. Upgraded to lucid no more problems.
