DTS Sound - I have the DTS logo but no sound?
#1
Hi all,

I have my Revo running 9.11 live to a surround sound kit with an optical.

When i play a X264 film (tested on another users revo) there is no sound.

The DTS logo appears on the front of the reciver but nothing comes from the speakers?
"Dolby Digital" 5.1 works perfectly, including the "Dolby" logo appearing on the reciver?
The tracks is "5.1 DTS Eng" and it is set to DIGITAL etc

Any ideas please?

is your audio passthrough set to iec958?

thanks for the reply,

Yes both are set to "iec958"

Dolby Digital audio works, Stereo Xvid audio works.
But DTS doesnt play any sound, Although the DTS logo DOES come on, on the reciever?

If there is nothing in the logs, could it be a problem with the surround sound kit?

Looks like it was a common problem with this system......
Apparently LG didnt want to pay the DTS fee`s so disabled DTS.. luckily is can be enabled again from the service menu Smile

[b]Hi

My name is Michael I work a currys branch in the UK, Recently I had customer present me a print out of this thread stating that he had the same problem.

Being quite strange "Dts logo showing but no sound" I looked into it further.

We had a ht554ph in store so I grabbed a dvd and went investigating. As described before the dvd worked fine with DD5.1 but when switched to DTS the logo displayed itself, followed by no sound.

Puzzled I phoned my stores LG Rep. He hadnt heard of this and was keen to see it for himself. He popped into store and had a play and came face to face with the same problem, logo no sound. He went away to find some answers for me. And this is what i got back.......

There is two variants to the HT554, the PH and the TH.

The PH model is 3 small satellites and 2 tallboy speakers
The TH model is 1 satellite and 4 tallboy speakers

The PH model doesnt support DTS as the specification was changed during production but LG didnt have time to remove the Logo and Menu features from the unit. According to my source there wont be any firmware upgrade to add this feature to this unit.

The TH does support DTS.

Im sorry I have to be the bearer of bad news.

Michael

Enable DTS on LG HT554PH

Turn on system in DVD mode (no disc)

1. go to setup>audio
2. turn off vocal
3. return to main screen with big LG logo in centre
4. Press 'Pause' button, 1,4,7,2

A service menu appears

1.Press 'up' cursor until scroll across to second from last number on top row
2. change e1 to e9 (can't quite recall how, hold down 5 to get E and then press 9)
3. press enter to save
4. Press PAUSE to reboot

Good luck.
