I see there are info labels for playlist position etc... But none for the name.
It would be nice to have some indication that xbmc was playing a playlist & what the playlist is called.

Can this be done?

Nope - XBMC has no idea what the source of the "playlist" is. In many cases that source is "all over the show". eg. consider the case where you just queue files up from wherever you want.
