I am quite happy with my ATV on OS X and do not want to migrate to Linux
I have been using Dharma with the old driver having the usual memory leaks requireing a reboot
I recently upgraded the driver to the 3.6 version and things seem worst with clear freezes and lock outs on some scenes even at 720p
I have now gone and try driver 2.0.1 still have not watched a full feature
I was wondering what is the experience of other OS X users with the drivers version 1, 2 and 3
Changing the other settings has no impact at all so I do not need any help there please!

well, i'm still on version based on r26 and svn build smth like 2XXXX...
kinda scary to update since it's working quite okay... 720p mostly.

driver/lib/firmware are paired.
I have a linux box that runs new xbmc with old driver. That works fine.

I install each time the respective firmware driver and lib that come in the zip
Overall I would say that except the reboot version 1 had less issues than 3?
I will try 2.0.1 tonight

Ok 2.0.1 crashes and reboots the ATV
I still have the old drivers so I can do that myself no issue
Now on 3.6.0 after reboot!

OK with 3.6.0 I keep getting this dropped frames quite regular more than the old old version

Driver r26 is the best with top at 45% eventually needs reboot but you can watch a whole movie

If I may ask, how are you going from one version to the other ? I mean, what method are you using to upgrade/downgrade ?

Right. I would suggest you go delete all traces of the version you are upgrading from, before moving new files into place. Then run a kextstat | grep crystalhd and ensure you are running the correct version 3.0.6 will return:
92 0 0x9bc000 0x18000 0x17000 com.broadcom.crystalhd.driver (3.6.0) <6 5 4 2>

I am running 0.9.26
As I said the results are better and if I reboot the appletv before watching a movie at least I get to watch it without any issues at 720p
The 3.6.0 gets regularly scatty sadly
