Remote power up for mac (mini in particular)
#1
I have a Harmony 1100 that I love (well, except for the fact that you have to use OSX or windows to set it up, but that's another issue...).

With one virtual button on the touch screen, I can power up the TV, the AV Receiver, the cable box, the DVD/BD player and never have to move.
It's nirvana for the couch potato. Big Grin

Except... I still have to walk over and power on the mac mini.

I know someone has already this figured out, how do you set up the mac so that it will power up from the remote?

I sleep the mini. That way it wakes up just fine with the Harmony.

If sleep the mini, it's locked up after resume.

Sounds like there's something wrong with your mini then that you should try and fix.

My Harmony wakes my mini up from Sleep and starts XBMC.

This is not the mini, I think -- this is 9.11 stable on macosx.

After coming out of sleep when hitting menu on the mac remote, XBMC screen pops up, and I (usually) see the "scanning for new content" stuff at the top of the screen.
xbmc then locks up, and I can't get back to the desktop.

I have enabled remote login and can still login via ssh.
when I run top, I see the xbmc process is running at about 150% CPU and gobbling memory. I have to reboot from there to get the machine back.
The content that xbmc is scanning is mounted via NFS.
I'm going to try disabling rescan on startup and see if that changes anything.

EDIT: Turning off scan on startup seems to keep it from locking up.
