Easiest way to test: Put a Crystalbuntu image on a random 4+GB USB stick you have lying around (see the big thread about it), boot from it, deactivate CrystalHD in the settings (or probably it won't even activate as default, seeing there is no card) and test out a 720p file.

If it works to your satisfaction, rejoice! If it doesn't, pop in the CrystalHD card while you're at it and restart from the stick. You should see the difference when you try the 720p again.

Great idea. I really must be out of it as I hadn't thought to do that. Sigh...
