I love XBMC, especially after seriously evaluating using other app recently, but the one thing XBMC lacks is PVR which I need. Windows 7 Media Center (aka 7MC or WMC or MCE) has a nice PVR so I'm trying to get the best of both.

I'd like to keep 7MC running in the background at all times so switching from XBMC to 7MC is very quick.

anyone doing this or something similar?

I have been trying that plugin for 7MC but it crashes at launch... I have emailed the dev. Plus, that is for going from 7MC to XBMC... I'm also looking to go from XBMC to 7MC.

I don't want to use EG as it would require specific IR codes to make the switch, I want to use direct triggers within XBMC.

I may just need to mod XBMC's home menu to add 'Live TV' & 'Recorded TV' and have it launch 7MC via command line for each section - which 7MC can do. Just did not know if XBMC can still launch apps/scripts directly from Home Menu items?

Have you managed to get that plugin working ? I have the same issue with it just crashing when I launch it from MCE window.

I do and I use that to do it. But I did change the icon for a better looking one. Nod

The plugin only works if you have installed XBMC in the default location - I use it in portable mode so it crashes.

I use EventGhost to do the app switching now - this method is more robust as I can push one button on my Harmony remote to switch between the apps from anywhere within each app - e.g. no need to go to a specific menu.

If you go this route let me know, I'll share the code with you.
