[LIVE] How to build a new Custom Installer

I'm relatively new to Linux, but I've been banging away at XBMC as well as PFSense and Trixbox for a few years now. I can follow directions really well, so I'm hoping for some direction on a problem I'm having.

I am basically looking for a way to build my own custom distro of XBMC (for personal use).

Basically I'd like to get all my settings set including adding Samba and Transmission and then packaging it for re-deployment.

I think that Transmission and Samba are two of the biggest misses in XBMC Live and I'd like to see it by default. But since it's hard to get the features added to the source distro, I'm thinking of just rolling my own.

Can anybody point me in a direction on how to roll my own distro of XBMC to include these two additional features?

This is great. When they say "Obtain the base system", is this where I can grab the already existing XBMC LIVE ISO?
