What is causing the momentary speedup of video after unpausing, a bug?
#16
It's partially fixed for me, now I lose 2-3 frames, much less then before, sometimes none, but there is still a difference from 9.11. RC1, win7, 9500GT, latest nvidia driver.

No improvements for me, either. The fact that everything worked fine in Beta4 is starting to really gnaw on me. Why is it like this, not vice-versa?

Hi,

I don't want to sound ungrateful with the dev team of this great and free software but do anyone know if this problem is being worked on?

In my case, audio never catch-up with the video and I have to hard stop and resume playback to have it back to normal. This never happened to me in Beta4.

Unfortunately, It is a deal breaker for me if this error goes to release version. My favourite piece of software... life will not be the same again.

Sad problem still exists in the new official release when using VDPAU Sad

Tried using VLC to see if it had something to do with my nvidia drivers or vdpau libraries - no lag

I just want to confirm if this is an issue only for people running VDPAU dependent systems, linux only, or if it's everyone under all supported OSs?

My system specs are below.

The issue is gone when I use S/PDIF audio through hdmi. But when I use analog output, is there. Win 7, 32 bit, Audigy 4 and 9500GT.

Just generated one now.
Enabled debugging, shut down xbmc.

Started XBMC, navigated to a video (the.big.bang.theory.s04e06.720p.hdtv.x264-ctu.mkv) and played for 10 seconds, paused for 3seconds then resumed for a few more after the video caught up to audio, exit video, then exit xbmc.

Sorry, I dont know how to post files in the forum so I just uploaded the log to rapidshare, hope this helps Big Grin

I agree that the problem is annoying (under W7 with Nvidia 460 I suffer from the least intrusive form of it) but... why is this under the Development section?
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

Because I think Harry Muscle was actually just looking for some hints to fix it.

Hi,

I would just like to confirm that I have this issue. I am running xbmc on a revo with ubuntu. VDPAU is enabled. I really hope this gets fixed :-)

I have the same hardware and software setup.

I think there is more to this than meets the eye though. Last night I tried using an ipod touch with some XBMC remote control software on it to pause/unpause. The problem was much less pronounced than when I use a keyboard and the space key to pause/unpause.

When using the keyboard the video stalls completely for 2 or so seconds and then plays very rapidly until it has caught up with the video.

When using the ipod as a remote the initial stall didn't happen and the video caught up much quicker (because it hadn't fallen as far behind?)

Unfortunately none of this hardware is mine, but next time I get access to it I will experiment further.

That does sound interesting. However, I find that the length of the lag is varied. It doesn't make any sense. On my system the lag can be five seconds or more. It might have something to do with the quality of the video played. I don't know.

I am really interested to hear if what you say is true and it is the controller.

Thanks!
