is it worth upgrading to 4gb ram in an asrock 330?

hiSmile

last week one of my sticks of ram failed in my asrock 330.

looking on the crucial site its advising me to get a 2gb stick, which would give me 3gb in total, or another option is to get 2x 2gb sticks to upgrade it to 4gb.

performance wise will there be any advantage in going above the stock 2gb?

i'm running aeon 65 on dharma1, on top of a win 7 64 os, and tbh the ui does slow down quite a bit, so i'm trying to get that sorted.

read on a few threads about swapping the hd for an ssd, would this be beneficial?

i stream all my media via cat5e from my windows home server (soon to be an unraid box) would this give me slow browsing of movies/music etc??

many thanks for your timeSmile

Getting a SSD will give you a HUGE performance boost for the XBMC interface.

Getting 2GB more ram will give you a not noticeable performance boost. Don't do it.

In my opinion that Asrock has needed a SSD from day one. Its the only way to roll with ION. I have an Unraid box too as my NAS, but your cover art for your library is kept on the OS drive not the NAS.

That is why a SSD provides such a huge performance boost. It can rip the fanart and coverart off the OS drive so fast it makes the system with the OS on a HD feel like its from another decade.
