I just picked up a Mac Mini today and installed both Plex and XBMC on it. I have Plex running as a media server to my iPad and then use XBMC was the main playback programme as I still prefer the look of the AEON interface, this is then hooked up to the TV via my Onkyo amp on the HDMI output.

Things were going fine as the first couple of films I tested were DTS and then Dolby Digital, but then I tried running some movies with AAC 5.1 audio and XBMC seems to be only sending left and right as the centre channel isn't there, meaning all the dialog is removed. The same movies work perfectly in Plex without any issues.

Any idea if there is a setting I can't see in XBMC that can fix my issue?

try setting the channel layout to 2.0, passthough is by default two channel.

Sorry for being such a newb, but how do I do that. Under system settings the only options I seem to have it to change the speaker configuration from 5.1 down to 2.0. Then under the audio options while playing the video there is only a single 5.1 audio track.
