Not able to get remote to work in dharma after upgrade
#16
Somehow I'm still not there...

What I did:
- pasted the script into a file.
- copied that file to /etc/inti.d
- chmdoded the file +x ...
- sudo update-rc.d "myscript" defaults 98 02

Did a reboot but it still didn't start xbmc...

So I tried to start it manually again and now it doesn't start at all...
"xbmc" does not work nor does "xinit xbmc" ...

"Fatal server error:
no screens found"

And again - all I did was a reboot ?

Update:
- also tried without "sudo update-rc.d "myscript" defaults 98 02

Update2:
- ok... managed somehow to mess around with my x11 config while following an other installation guide... fixed that again...

"xinit xbmc" on ssh/putty now again starts xbmc
Just calling "xbmc" does still not work (but it "never" did anyway).

But the script you pointed me at doesn't autostart xbmc.

Trying to call it from command line gives me:

Code:
xbmcsvn: 1: !/bin/bash: not found
[: 84: dirk: unexpected operator
initctl: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.4" (uid=1000 pid=972 comm="initctl) interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6" member="EmitEvent" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init"))
[: 84: dirk: unexpected operator

OK... I will start another thread as the problem with the remote is fixed now.
And this is something different now...

Thanks a lot for your help !

I also have an issue with my remote after upgrading today. I did save a backup of my Keymap.xml and my lirc is working fine, as tested with irw, yet my remote refuses to work in XBMC. How does something that works fine in one version of XBMC end up being ****ed in a more recent versionHuh

Okidoke, so now Keymap.xml has reverted back to being edited in the home folder instead of usr/share/xbmc.....
