Is there a .nfo file that I could drop in a folder, that would make that folder get skipped while adding to the library scan?

No, but you have 2 options. One add the path you want excluded to your advancedsettings.xml using the excludefromlisting option - http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Adv...listing.3E
Or set content on the folder you want excluded and set the exclude path from library options.
