Which IR receiver is best (operating angle, range) ?
#1
I bought a cheap receiver from Dealextreme, and the operating angle is very poor. If i point my remote (Harmony One) 10 cm below the receiver when sitting 4 meters away, it does not respond.

I have looked at two different receivers on ebay, one HP and one MS. Have anyone tested both and know which is best when it comes to operating angle and range ?

MS

I guess both will work out of the box (I am using Win7).

get either of them
OpenElec Standalone --> Asus Chromebox 'Panther' --> Onkyo TX-NR709 --> Sony 55" X85C Android TV (also with Kodi!)
Asus Chromebox EZ Script
Kodi on Sony Bravia Android TVs

Thanks.
As the price is the same, I think I will go for the Microsoft receiver, as I think the design is better.

Hello,
I would be interested in getting the PCB that is in the MS or HP IR receiver, as I would like to install the receiver inside my new Bellini HTPC. Certainly, I could buy the full module and take the PCB out, but I wondered whether there are sources for the PCB only?
Cheers,
peter
