Setup: XBMC on windows 7 and vista for rendering only. XBMC on linux htpc
for server/renderer to hdtv. The xbmc version is camelot.

Problem: Was having problems getting upnp to work so I used samba to share
across. Now upnp and smb has disappeared from the windows machines as
a source option. Pics are still shared across the smb network. Music is
non funtional. Networking is running properly and the smb shares are visible from windows. It is setup to use no user/pass prompt.

Intent: Need to get the upnp and smb menu items back and fix upnp issues.
The most immediate problem is the disappearance of the menu items.
Great piece of software though I previously used it with mediatomb but
thought that using xbmc as both server and renderer would be a win-win.

What did I screw up?

I had some of the same problem. Try to restart your router, it solved my problem.

created two firewall rules to accept all tcp/udp from lan and it popped up as
a upnp server....then reinstalled xbmc on win boxes and got source prompts back. no telling what kind of security issues I created though will have to refine it some after I finish all the setup.
