The *6 is a footnote at the bottom of the page that reads "6. Requires optional CrystalHD decoder"

A Sempron 140 is a single core cpu and there's no way its powerful enough to play back 1080p on its own.

Oh, I missed that. My experience with 1080p is that the bitrate is the main factor. Most of the rips online are lower bitrates and those may be ok to play. But, I agree, a full blu-ray rip may not play smoothly.
