What OS and XBMC version are you running?

Please can you also post an extract of the log file for the first time you start the script and then when you try a second time?

Stephen.

Please see the post here http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=702...stcount=20 for how to setup the XMLTV directory.

Hello this may be a very noob or silly question. How do we get xmltv files? I was trying this for TVGuide addon and it had this option and i did a little of research to create the xmltv files but it was saying to register for an annual fee at http://WWW.SCHEDULESDIRECT.ORG site.

Is this how everyone is getting the list or am i missing anything?

Thanks

You can generate files with xmltv (see http://wiki.xmltv.org/). Please follow the instructions in the README file within the addon zip.

I've not tested the addon with http://www.schedulesdirect.org/ files.

Actually, that is what i did but for North america seems like you have to go through http://www.schedulesdirect.org. It used to be zap2it i believe as i see in the older versions but it has changed and now they are charging $25 for a year.

Thanks

It actually went up to $26 or $6 for 2 months. I just downloaded guide data for U.S. from Schedulesdirect and it worked fine. It still gets info from Zap2it or it's parent Tribune Broadcasting. A few years ago Zap2it would let you get data directly but they stopped it. Schedules direct, I think, has to buy the data from Tribune and pay slave wages to a couple of employees.

I was looking for an actual guide for TV in XBMC and all I could find was old ones from 2004/2005. I took an old script and created an addon.xml and after running it with a script error XBMC told me there was a new version. Good thing I named it the same as you did.

Any way..I've got a HDHomerun and would like to load the proper channel when a guide entry is pressed. I see there's an event but an action needs to be configured. Have you played with loading a .strm file from the guide? I've got MythTV running with Mythbox but was looking for something to just watch TV. I have trouble with Mythbox on my Windows machines and it lags pretty good but viewing the HDHomerun directly works greats.

No, I'm not developing this any more. The PVR functions in Frodo together with tvheadend provide a good EPG.
