XBMC hangs after stopping / ending movie
#1
Hi!

I updated my XBMC 9.11 to Dharma Beta4 and yesterday once more to RC1.

Since Beta4 and RC1 XBMC hangs up after stopping a movie (Stop-Button on remote) or after the movie ended in a normal way.

When I pressed stop, i got the background picture (Popcorns in Transparency-Skin), but nothing else.
When the movie ended in a normal way, i got a black screen (means, the pc "sends" a black screen, there is sill a signal to tv).

There is no possibility to get a reaction.
The only two ways are pressing the power off button, or connect over ssh and force a reboot.

My System is Ubuntu 10.04 with a Nvidia Geforce4 MX 440
Here are the last lines of the xbmc.log

Has anyone an idea where my problem is or is it simply a bug?

I am having the same issue on Windows. The key line in the log before this even seems to be

Code:
15:18:10 T:1976 M:2457116672 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(player)::Put MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED

And it is always present in my log when this event occurs. If you Google search the MSGQ... part you can see others with the same problem across XBMC, Boxee and Plex. Can't seem to find a solution, although my Googlefu may be bad.

Hi,

I got this problem too after upgrading from Beta 3 to Beta 4. Each time a film ended XBMC crashed. I had to reboot the computer by pressing the button or to kill the xbmc.bin process using ssh connection.

Finally I removed completely xbmc I deleted all the xbmc profile files and reinstall it. The problem seems to be solved but I have strange PCU usage since the Beta 4.

You should try a full remove and reinstall

That was it!
Thanks.

My fault was: i updated my stable 9.11 with dharma beta 4 from the launchpad instead ob uninstalling it and re-install it from the new repository....

Now i uninstalled all xbmc packages and reinstalled the Dharma rc1 and everything works fine. Even the youtube plugin works now.

Thanks and Greets

I have this problem too. Is there a way to fix this without having to reinstalling XBMC? If I reinstall, do I have to re-install all the addons as well? Can I just zip up the addons directory save it to unzip it after the re-install?

I`m on Windows XP and having a very similar issue.
It`s fine until I watch a movie for a while, I can stop the movie and then
when I try to exit XBMC it hangs and i have to kill XBMC via task manager.

I even uninstalled XBMC and manually removed all it`s other files and reinstalled RC1
and still does the same thing. Beta 2 was fine and I think 3 was also no problem.

This is similar to the problem in this thread

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=86114

Except the two of us over there have it freezing before the movie plays, but I'm getting (not sure about the other guy) the "Put MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED" error in my debug logs as well.
But now I just updated my video card drivers and now I got the hang after stopping the video. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the RC1 and see how that goes.
