Hey,
all my sounds except the digital passthrough are gone since an unexpected shutdown of XBMC. In other words menus, music & non-ac3/dts sounds.

I've been trying to figure out whats wrong but i can't.
The soundcard is listed and identified by ubuntu, alsamixer is working fine and no channel is muted.
XBMC identifies the soundcard aswell, i can select to passthrough digitaly and my driver is listed.

Even tried to re-install alsa drivers, still no luck.
Using: XBMC 9.11 R26018

Any ideas on what to check next?

In a terminal, execute "iecset audio on".
After that if it still doesn't work, there might be some switches regarding spdif in alsamixer that need to be turned on/off.
