Wired XBOX360 Controller not working at all
#1
My Rig:
Win 7 prof. 64 bit
xbmc r35326 dharma RC1

I have a wired xbox 360 controller, it is correctly installed. (system lists it as "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows")

Out of the box it was not working, so i looked around in the keymap folder.

I replaced all references to "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver" with "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" in the keymap for the 360 controller, but i still get no reaction from xbmc whatsoever.

The joypad itself is working, tested it with a few games and emulators.

I tried doing that also and did not have any luck. I am also on Windows 7 x64. Anyone out there get it to work?

I got it to work on my machine.

After trying to find a solution for myself, i finaly fixed the problem, and the wired controller is working now.

I replaced the controller name to "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)" in the joystick.Xbox.360.Wireless.Controller.xml file.

And it is working perfect now.

I gues xbmc only wanted to know the exact name for it to work.

I went to device manager, controller, properties, and there was the controllers name.
So i thought lets ty to change the name, and it worked!

--edit--
Be sure to replace all the names.
I just opened up in notepad, and used the "replace" function.

is that on Win7, because replacing it with "Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)" is not working for me either. Also had to change the user rights for the directory this file is located in, but that's just info.

Got me a WinXP setup together, downloaded the zip file from http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=70992
and I got it working by placing its content in /XBMC/system/keymaps.
However, doing the exact same thing does not work for Win7. WinXP Debugging shows

19:00:23 T:2904 M:858132480 DEBUG: Joystick 0 button 1 Down

EDIT: got it working now, appearantly in Win7 you have to use the following device name: "XBOX 360 For Windows (Controller)", that's how it is named in XBMC log file...
