I know it should be a combination of a lot of factors, but lets say, I have a dual core processor, 1gb of ram, and an older motherboard with integrated graphics.

The interface currently is too slow to run the Aeon skin.

If I were to upgrade my motherboard to this: http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sk...e=GIGABYTE

But keep everything else the same, will I see much of an improvement?

Poofyhairguy is the best one to ask, but I would say that probably the best upgrade you can make to speed up the interface is an SSD

A SSD helps all the skins in my opinion because the low seek speeds make fan art and databases pull up much faster than on a hard drive.

With that said, sounds like the problem is your GPU. The GPU on that mobo will be a huge improvement.
