this is my first Atv and not really sure where this file is located. I assumed it would be the same as my live install that i run on my main box but no such luck. I also searched all over with no luck. any help would be great.

What specifically don't you have?

If XBMC is installed on your AppleTV and functional, it is there, you have to mount the frontrow partition to access it first.

xbmc is running and i do not see that. i am ssh'n in do i need to do something special?

Maybe you have enabled Profile, in which case the sources.xml is at:

/Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata/profiles/_yourusername_/sources.xml
