Shutdown on Home menu [MOD]
#1
I like XBMC with T! so much, I recommend it to people, unfortunately these people are not always computer savvy, have trouble navigating with a remote and have trouble exiting XBMC.

So, I figured I would put a Shutdown menu item on the Home Menu.
It isn't an instant shutdown so relax, you can still back out of it if accidentally selected it. It simply calls the standard shutdown screen.

Here is how I did it:

1- I went to Settings >Skin Settings > Menu > Custom 1 and created a label called "-shutdown-"

2- In Includes_Home.xml, there are 2 places that concern Menu_Custom1_Label,
one for the vertical menu and one for the horizontal and both start with <item id="14">
so I replaced
Code:
<onclick>$INFO[Skin.String(Menu_Custom1_Path)]</onclick>
with
Code:
<onclick>ActivateWindow(ShutdownMenu)</onclick>
That's it

I wanted to have that menu item in a different color when selected but I could not figure it out so,
I added a dash "-" before and after the word "shutdown" so it still stands out.

ps: i got the idea from this thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=80886

This thread has the appropriate title for my shutdown button set.. Free for all, it would be nice to see if we can coax Roni into putting them into the new grey theme. The Buttons are slightly transparent, and should match.. You need the beta version of Transparency! and they go in the media directory.

I've refined this set look down the messages

i didn't create the grey theme, so not my call.

do you have the psd sources for these?
i'm not really interested in the butons (they don't match the other buttons in T!)
but the icons used on those buttons are nice!
maybe i could replace the ones in T! with yours.

only the folder icon doesn't really match the rest of the set imho.

I do have the .PSD files... I'll do a bit of cleaning up (the star favourite is a bit too big and maybe a bit of mods, and I'll look into the folder button.. and I agree it's not quite right).. I'll include a blank .PSD for those who want to improve.

The set is free to use for anyone to do what they want...

Includes the .PSD files for easy modification or more buttons.. (1 meg download) change the ugly green into crystal LED blue!

Hi PatK,

I fixed the exit icon that had white line and made the filemanager icons similar to the others.

Just pop the greyPatK files in their proper place, media and colors. You can keep both the grey and greyPatK themes, just select the one you want from Skin Settings

I may be advertising my age but your icons remind me of the Commodore64

Cheers

I'm an Amiga nut... guess that shows too. I didn't know how to treat the file manger icon in that genre without it looking dated.

Anyone have any better ideas... should be an obvious symbol for what the function is.

I think the folder icon does the job, especially now that it isn't transparent

Here's the last time I touch this set... a few subtle improvements in the focus images, I didn't want the light so hot and I've smoothed & resized a few. This set no longer includes the .PSD files.. just a straight replacement set adn they still retain their tranparency! so this should go with any theme.

Modified a few files to change the backdrop colour & transparency! in the shutdown menu.... For Beta Transparency! users just stick them in your media folder in the C:\Documents and Settings\User\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\skin.transparency\media This also changes the backdrop of the OSD remote and keyboard.. which will fit nicely with a new set of buttons.

Yes I know I changed the star to favourites... but hey isn't a button supposed to look like it's function?
