Cause of General Sluggishness of Menu System
#1
Hi all. First let me say that I am completely overwhelmed at the awesomeness of XBMC and the community that supports it. I hope to become a contributing member someday!

But I do have a general question... does anyone know what would cause the general sluggishness of the menu system? (FYI, my video playback is awesome on all counts)

My system:

Acer Aspire Revo 3700
2GB RAM
1.8Ghz Atom D525 CPU
ION 2 GPU
Windows 7 Pro (wanted RDP capabilities)
XBMC RC2
Skin: aeon-mq 2.5
I have about 110 movies, and probably 1500 TV shows.

When I browse around XBMC, many menus take 1-2 seconds to load; some take 4-5 seconds (for example, going from the Main Menu to Movies or TV Shows, or if I going into Settings).

What causes this typically? Is it the size of the library? Is it something with the skin? Incidentally, loading task manager and browsing around XBMC doesn't show any irregular spikes in CPU or RAM. Is there something I could improve or should I just get more patience? Smile

Thanks all!

Try using a less CPU intensive skin for a start.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.
