[Windows] Dell MC Remote
#1
Hi all, hope this is in the right section, I'm new to the forum and XBMC.

I've just built a HTPC and plan on running XBMC on Windows 7. I was looking for a cheap-ish remote control to use with it and have found a Dell remote at a good price (approx £20 in the UK) - this one - click here - just wondered if anyone had used one and how well it worked out of the box. I tried searching the forums but can't seem to see anything and it's not mentioned in the wiki either, though it looks very similar to the Phillips remote in the wiki.

Anyone got any views on these?

Thanks Smile

That is the remote I actually use with my media center. It works well enough. There are some things I wish I could resolve. Examples are

i button for info.
<- some menus it doesn't go back all the way. An example the osd while playing a video there is no way to exit that with the remote, I have to his esc on the keyboard. There are a few other areas, i think weather and settings off the top of my head.
Volume control also wasn't working right last I checked.
I dont use the numbers at the bottom.

Also at times it seems a bit cumbersome to operate dvd menus I have no idea why. Sometimes just slow or doesn't pick up on the signal.

I haven't tried event ghost, I did try a program I found on the forums here that gave the op codes of each button and writing up a keybindings.xml file. It solved alot of my issues but for some reason it didn't work as well, in windows media center after that, and since we also use media center I reverted to the stock settings.

Overall it's a nice remote, mine at least has a little bit of backlighting. I only have to reach for the keyboard occasionally with it. I think with the proper tweaking it would work out rather well.
