Watching HD TV thru tvheadend on ATV and BCM700015
#1
Hi there,

i just got my apple tv (1sat gen) hooked up, and playing HD material using the Crystal HD BCM 70015 is smooth as silk using Rc2 and the latest crystalhd driver.

HOwever, when playing from tvheadend i don't seem to get the crystal HD working, it stutters alot so i suspect that it cannot use it as it can on plain mkv files.

I found this is the log:
Code:
20:53:51 T:53450752 M: 43593728  NOTICE: Open - avcC atom too data small or missing
20:53:51 T:53450752 M: 43589632   DEBUG: FactoryCodec - Video:  - Failed

here is the full log: http://pastebin.com/rDxqjpfB

anyone got any clues?

"avcC atom too data small or missing"

The crystalhd need to be feed a specific flavor of h.264, ie byte-stream format. The xbmc crystalhd codec detects the flavor and converts it when needed. The above message says that it found an h264 flavor with a avcC atom in ffmpeg's demuxer extradata but the data is wrong as avcC atom have a minimal data size and yours are not valid. It's possible that ffmpeg demuxer setup extradata wrong and the h264 stream is actually quite valid. Without a sample for the video content, I can't check it.

i suppose a recording will do? i hope tvheadend dont construct the stream different between live tv and recordings... otherwise i need some help in how to grab it from my frontend while being streamed from the backend.

Common for both 2 samples is that i haven't tested them in xbmc to see if i get the same error message (im at work)

Recording 1: (mediainfo -> http://pastie.org/1361218) tried it in vlc and i got some green bars in the beginning, probably because of the snow outside, smooth after a while in vlc.

Recording 2: (mediainfo -> http://pastie.org/1361221) stuttering in my VLC on my work computer for some reason.. maybe bad reception because it is snowing.

Both samples arent 100% but i hope it can provoce the error message, which is what we are looking for Smile

Cheers, and thanks for all your work on the broadcom davilla, much appreciated!

Hi Druggo
I'm seeing the issue with not using the CHD in LiveTV here with VDR 1.7.14 as Backend. Did you get your Problem resolved?

Thanks
