Hi fellas,
I recently installed xmbc Dharma Release Candidate 2, and I can't hear the audio from the HDMI cable. I tried to configure various configuration files, but at most I could hear noises "crackling". Does anyone know what and how to properly configure? The motherboard is a sapphire am3rs785g with the ATI Radeon HD 4200 (Microsoft Support DX 10.1) and the Realtek ALC662 HD Audio CODEC with 6-Channel. Obviously, the channels are not muted. I have been struggling to get audio over HDMI to work too. I haven't booted into Windows in so long I don't remember if it did work on Windows either. In my opinion, you'll have to use an audio out and NOT over hdmi.....I don't even believe many of the lower end graphics cards support audio over hdmi in linux.

sure this is possible but you need to provide more information, e.g. do you have a full ubuntu installation or did you use the live image etc.

also provide output of

and

I download XBMC-dharma2.iso but in the prompt and in the install menu I see always "XBMCLive".

I try with mythbuntu and the audio over hdmi works fine with this /etc/asound.conf:

pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3
}

Now I'll try to reinstall dharma (because in myth my remote control doesn't works fine) in order to check it as describe above.
