[LINUX] Video playback failure
#1
I'm running Dharma RC2 on Ubuntu 10.10 i686 installed via the PPA, and I'm having massive video playback issues. .avi seems to universally work fine, but .wmv, .mp4, and .mpg have an almost seemingly random playback failure rate - most of them fail, but a few work fine.

After selecting the file, XMBC looks like it's about to play the file, but then, instead of video, I get something that looks like this screenshot. It stays like that (remaining at 0:00) until I press stop. Sometimes, if I press pause and then play again, I'll get a few seconds of audio, but never any video.

The relevant portion of the debug log is here, using an mp4 grabbed at random: http://pastebin.com/zqHSgHRs

What can I do to fix this (other than converting all the failing files to .avi)?

Can you disable vdpau and see if that fixes anything.
