XBMC 10.0 and 9.11 crash/hang
#1
OSX Version - 10.5.6
Platform - Dual Core G5 PPC PowerMac 2gHz, 2gig ram
Install Method - dmg
SVN Revision - 9.11 (SVN-26018M) and
10.0 (SVN-35648)

Problem: entering any menu then using escape or back to go up a level causes a hang and a crash. Same crash when using apple remote.

Going into the video menu causes a hang then a crash

Report is from 10.0 version but the same behaviour was found on 9.11.

I have used memtest to test the memory from a startup console and no errors reported.

mac console log - http://pastebin.com/9dHgcPLj

I am, frustratingly, a total Mac virgin so please assume you are dealing with a five-year-old!

I'm having the same problem. I have a PowerMac PC G5.. I'm trying to search for some solutions. The reason why i'm putting xbmc on my mac is because there is nothing else I can really use it for now that everything requires intel based macs. I was surprised that xbmc supported powermac, but now I'm running into this issue.

Same reason I downloaded XBMC. It wins over Front Row for me only because it will play a lot of MacTheRipper-ripped DVDs that Front Row won't.

I have found that all DVDs ripped with DVD Shrink on my Windows machine play fine in Front Row, though, so that's my fall back option until (if at all) the cause of my XBMC crash is found.

Can't see anything in the log.
If you have a crash, pastebin the CrashReporter log (you put twice the xbmc.log).
Have you tried with a clean Dharma install?
Try removing (or renaming) your /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/XBMC directory.
xbmc.log: /Users/<username>/Library/Logs/xbmc.log
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.
