HDMI Audio Issues
#1
Hello,
I am brand new to XBMC and installed the Live version on a second hard drive on my desktop. The problem I am having is that I can not get my audio to go through my HDMI cable to my TV, no matter what I do it comes through my regular PC speakers. I did install XBMC on in Windows also to test and it worked there just fine. I've gone into the audio manager and unmuted any iec objects that were listed there but nothing changed. I've gone through the settings and changed the audio output to every option in there and get the same results. I've searched but all that I come up with is to unmute those iec outputs. Can anyone please help? Also if someone can tell me how to post log's I can do that.

Thanks,

JB

Sorry, thought I had put that in there...
AMD Phenom 9100e QUad-Core @ 1.8GHz
4GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 3200 On Board Video with HDMI out.

As far as the aplay could you tell me how to get that, I really know very little about this yet.

Also I did go into the audio settings and do this from that post you linked but didn't get anything either.

Passthrough Output Device - custom

i didn't mean you to do exact what is in that post. that is only info how and where to do it.
so before u do that u need to see that info from aplay
to do that u need to
1. open Terminal (its a application in your system )
3. type aplay -L
4. type aplay -l

than post all that info here

Ok, I see what your saying. Below is all that data. I took what you said on the other thread and I did:
Audio Output Device - custom
and write
hdmi:CARD=HDMI

Passthrough Output Device - custom
and write
hdmi:CARD=HDMI

When I did this the sound came from the TV, but the playback was extremely choppy, I couldn't even tell what was playing... Did I do something wrong?
Also when that was working that way all the system sounds would still go through the PC speakers connected to the PC instead of the HDMI.
