I removed a TV show from the library, and then removed the directory containing the series. The show banner keeps appearing on the library when I update it.

XBMC: 2:10.00~svn35648-lucid1 (from ppa:team-xbmc/ppa)
OS: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

Try going to Settings -> Videos -> Library -> Clean Library... and see if it goes away.

Other than that, my only suggestion is to manually remove the entry for the show from the SQLite database it's stored in.
