mce remote under XBMCFreak's Maverick v1 LiveCD not working
#1
Anybody know how to get an mce remote to work under Maverick? I've read some threads and am very confused about it. With past versions of XBMC it just worked. But when I installed XMBCFreak's latest LiveCD the installation randomly decided to say I had a wb677 remote, whatever that is. I ran dpkg-reconfigure lirc and said I had a mceusb remote and it loaded the drivers, but still no response from xbmc. Some posts I've read said that the lirc stuff is now in the kernel, and that xbmc just supports it, and I don't know what any of that means and why my setup won't work.

I've also seen some posts from a while back that said that suspend doesn't work from IR. Is this still true? If so I guess I'll just revert.

I can't imagine something for Ubuntu 10 and different hardware will fix this problem.

MCE remotes either just don't work, or there's been some fundamental change in the way they are configured when using Ubuntu 10.10.

I don't see a lirc_mceusb driver being loaded, just mceusb. And I put it in blacklist.conf and ran
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
and it's still loaded after reboot.

I do see some other modules for ir being loaded, but much like mceusb, adding them to blacklist.conf does nothing.

I've also attempted both methods in that thread. Nothing works. Doesn't matter if I try that linux event method or windows mce one. Of course that's one of the biggest problems, every discussion I come across provides conflicting information.

Well I tried v2 from XBMCFreak, it's still broken. Neither of those methods work for getting the remote to respond, and I still don't see multiple drivers being loaded like some have.
